Creating a wage garnishment recipient
If you have rights to use the Manage Recipients feature, you can use the Recipients page to add a wage garnishment recipient. Create a wage garnishment recipient when you need to take money directly out of a paycheck to fulfill a court order. Once you create a wage garnishment recipient, you can select it like a normal recipient from one of the following payment or template types:
- ACH Payment
- ACH Batch
- Payroll
You can create a separate template just for wage garnishments or include them as part of a payroll transaction, including split payments. Online banking allows for two types of wage garnishment payments: Child Support and Third-Party Tax.
Note: If you split or include a wage garnishment in a payment or template initiated with an SEC code other than cash concentration and disbursement (CCD), the wage garnishment is still processed as a CCD payment during standard ACH processing by us.
To create a wage garnishment recipient:
- In the navigation Commercial > Recipients. , click or tap
- Click or tap New Recipient.
- Enter a display name for the recipient.
- (Optional) Enter an email address for the recipient.
- Select Wage Garnishment (ACH) from the Payment Type drop-down .
- In the Garnishment Type drop-down , select Child Support or Third-Party Tax.
- Complete the remaining required fields.
- (Optional) Complete the Recipient Details fields.
- Click or tap Save Recipient.
- Click or tap Close.
Note: To set a recurring child support payment, the Effective Date must match the Income Withheld Date.
You can now select the wage garnishment recipient from a payment or template.
Tip: You can also create a wage garnishment recipient while creating a payment or template. When choosing a Recipient/Account, click or tap + New Recipient and select Wage Garnishment (ACH) from the Payment Type drop-down . You can use this method to create a one-time wage garnishment recipient by filling out the required fields and clicking or tapping Use Without Save.
