Linking accounts
Link your accounts at external financial institutions (FIs) to manage your finances all in one place. Link your credit cards, loans, checking, and savings accounts from other FIs once and see up-to-date balances and transactions for all your accounts on the Home page. You can link accounts from most domestic, US-based FIs.
Account information for linked accounts is view-only. Although you can see balances and transactions and modify categories and descriptions, you cannot create new transactions for linked accounts or transfer funds between linked accounts. If you need to create transactions or transfer funds to an external account, see Setting up external accounts for transfers.
- On the Home page, select Link Account in the Personal Financial Management section.
- Search for an FI or select an FI name in the Quick Picks section.
- Authenticate with the external FI. You may be asked to authenticate in the following ways:
- By providing your digital banking credentials for the external FI and following any prompts to supply more information if requested.
- By following a separate workflow in a new browser window. Upon completion you will be prompted to close the window and return to digital banking.
- Select where you want your linked accounts to be visible.
- (Optional) To link more accounts, select Link More Accounts and repeat steps 2 and 3.
- Select Close to return to the Home page. The status of the account appears, along with prompts for any outstanding information, such as account credentials.
If Home is selected, the account will display as a tile in the Accounts section of the Home page. If Personal Financial Management is selected, the linked account will display in Personal Financial Management, like Budget and Net Worth, and account information, such as balances and transactions, will be available for MX Personal Financial Management.
After you link accounts, they appear in a Linked Accounts group on the Home page. You can reorder and group accounts as necessary.
To edit your preferences for how accounts display on the Home page and in Personal Financial Management, select Settings > Account Preferences. In the Linked Accounts section, find the account you want to show or hide and select the Home and Personal Financial Management toggles.
You can unlink an account from two places:

Select Settings > Account Preferences. In the Linked Accounts section, select the account, then select Remove.
- Select the account tile from the Home page and select
in the Details tab.
Both methods remove all accounts from the linked FI.
- On the Home page, select Link Account in the Personal Financial Management section.
- Select
. - Select Add Linked Account.
- Search for an FI and select the FI name from the list.
- Provide your digital banking credentials for the external FI and select Connect. If the FI requires multi-factor authentication, follow any prompts to supply more information.
After you link accounts, they appear in a Linked Accounts group on the Home page.
- Select Linked Accounts on the Home page.
- Select the linked account from the list.
- Select edit (
). - Select Delete.
